Buzz ImageFor the launch of the revamped Modalinc.com we decided to get knee deep in Social Media.  Something we have done for our clients – but now it is our turn. Check out our SM strategy for our site announcement buzz.

Step 1: Prep

Communication plan- check. Witty comments- check. URL shorteners- check.  Starting a few days before the launch we posted screenshots of the new homepage on our Facebook page.  We wanted our fans to see what the new site looked like – a little preview! After all our fans were a big part of our rebrand process.

Step 2: Leak the News

We posted comments on Facebook. Tweeted announcements of the pending launch date. And prepped an email that would be sent out to a specific list – friends, partners, past employers and clients past, present and future.

Step 3: Formal Launch

Complimented by a traditional press release and our undercover PR super hero “Hambini”; we started early that morning by sending out the email to our list, updating our corporate and personal Facebook pages and posting our tweets with precision.  By midday we noticed we gained a few fans on Facebook and more followers on Twitter.  After about three hours of concerted buzz generation we started receiving emails and phone calls with compliments on the new site and rebrand.  Some even asked about our Social Media Management Service!

Results

After three days of the launch we recorded increases in several areas.

  • 1200% increase in traffic to the site
  • A generous increase in Twitter followers
  • Increased fan base on Facebook (thanks guys!)

We hope our plan shows the importance of social media in the process of generating buzz. Combine traditional PR and you have a complete package. Give us a call to see how we can help you with your next launch. We’d love to generate your BUZZ!
