I’ve been following Dunkin’ Donuts online for awhile now. I love how they are using social media to reach out to customers and build a community. I still remember going to DD’s with my Grandfather when I was younger and picking out my favorite donut when I was a kid – “a maple frosted glazed please.” Enough about me, lets talk Dunkin’.
I’ll start with Facebook – Dunkin’ gets it. They gave me a reason to become a fan, invited me into their circle of trust and shared some office stories and pictures – they make me come back because I feel like an “insider.”
On Facebook
Over 800,000 Facebook members have signed up to share their Dunkin’ Donut stories. A recent promotion gets everyone involved – Keep it Coolatta Daily Giveaway. Everyday you can use your profile picture (with your Coolatta) to win prizes.
On Twitter
Dunkin’ is doing a great job of using Twitter to connect with its customers. They follow more people on Twitter than are following them. It’s as if they want to know more about their customers- they seem interested.
On the iPhone
Dunkin’ Donuts even has a Web and iPhone app that work in conjunction to help with coffee orders. I can hear the joyful screams from interns as I am typing this. How great is this – you can become a member of dunkinrun.com and alert your coworkers of the next coffee run. Let them all know when you are leaving, when you will be back and where they can expect their drinks when you return. Brilliant, just brilliant.
Dunkin’ Dave has his hands full. Twitter, Facebook an iPhone app – what’s next Dunkin’ Donuts? Can I suggest a new store location near the Modal office?
