We have all been there. The TV season is just about to wrap up for your favorite show and you get hit with the news – the show is getting cancelled. This happened to me. I was watching “Chuck” and a friend called to tell me the news. save_chuck

After some searching online to confirm the bad news I found many fans had set up web sites, fan pages on Facebook and a variety of blogs. What is a fan to do? Set up a Facebook page, Twitter and get the word out. You betcha -lucky for me it was already done. After a few weeks the number of people talking about the show had grown. Quell the unrest. Bring back “Chuck”!

Looking back on it now, some people don’t think that the online chatter from the fans made a difference. I would like to think it did – after all more viewers makes advertisers happy.

Recently, I got a message from a group on Facebook to watch “Better Off Ted” this week because they are not advertising the last two episodes of the season. They moved their ad dollars to the Social Media space. So is this move indicative of the recession or a smart play on a built in audience via Social Media? Interesting times, very interesting times!
