In a recent article by The Guardian, Internet ad sales have overtaken TV ad sales in the UK. I asked myself, how long until this happens in the US?
Why is this Happening?
In the past watching TV and being online have been two separate events. That is all changing. How often do you find yourself on your mobile phone or netbook while you are watching TV? Many early adopters are doing this, see a new movie, hear a song or see a new product and Google it to find more information. Do you see where I am going with this? What happens if you can do this all on one device? Well you can…all you need is your laptop and high speed internet.
So is it too far of a jump to think that more consumers will forgo a cable TV bill and just have the fastest Internet connection they can afford? Will TV ad sales survive in light of all of this? Only time will tell.
