Microsoft will be integrating Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm into the XBOX Live dashboard. The service will be launching as a Beta at the end of this month. So what will the avid gamer and Social Media junkie be able to do?

Talk major trash – gamers love talking trash more than anything. With an XBOX Live account a gamer is able to search Facebook for friends that are on line – this beats calling them on the phone – and invite them to join a game. Setup Facebook Connect and the gamer stats will show up in the status letting friends know if it was a good game or not. Once the gaming has finished, launch Twitter and shame other gamer friends in 140 characters or less.

I believe the real gamer / Social Media junkie benefit is being able to see if your Facebook friends are online and you can invite them to play a game.

There are a few skeptics out there, they think that the XBOX 360 should be left as a stand alone gaming console and not morph into a console that can handle more duties. To the critics I say do you use Twitter on your phone or watch TV on your PC? Rejoice gamers and let the trash talk begin!
