The_CBsLast week my blog focused on a fictitious carpet cleaner and how someone in this industry could use Facebook and Twitter. This week I am going to give you insight from a real world user of Social Media. Bill is one of our clients – he makes up one half of The Comfort Brothers his partner Jim (better known as Lefty in Comfort Brother lingo) also adopted the use of Social Media.

For our interview I talked to Bill about the use of Facebook and Twitter to promote The Comfort Brothers.

I would like to say that Bill and I sat down over a carefully prepared six course meal and discussed his Social Media habits but I am saving that for a later post. I was however lucky enough to get a few free moments with him to discuss his use of Facebook and Twitter for the launch.

Interview

Jason: Bill what was your main draw to using Social Media for the launch of ComfortBrothers.com?
Bill: As a public relations professional I understand the value of effectively communicating key messages to targeted audiences. Social media provides additional platforms to reach audiences that ultimately compliment more traditional means of communications. So with the CBs, we’ll be using press releases, television and radio appearances, mailings, events, promotions as well as Facebook and Twitter and linking it all together to generate awareness and credibility.

Jason: What benefits do you see in using Facebook and Twitter to promote The Comfort Brothers?
Bill: Besides offering new platform for message delivery, Facebook and Twitter present an opportunity to reach a different kind of audience than, say, someone who reads the newspaper or watches the local news.

Jason: How did you get over 200 fans to join The Comfort Brothers Facebook Fan Page in under a week?
Bill: Well I suggested to all my fb friends that they should become CB Fans, and in turn suggest to their friends the same. Jim did as well. But the real initial rocket fuel was provided by Comfort Brother Jim’s daughter, Emma, an uber CB fan and avid social media maven with tons of energy. She recruited her college friends, their friends and friends of those friends. As we watch the page daily we now get the viral nature of it all. We’ve also been providing new content to keep it fresh in hopes the fans will check back in and recommend to others.

Jason: Lastly, what’s for dinner?
Bill: Panko encrusted Columbian pork chops on a bed of parmesen and nutmeg kissed sauteed fresh spinach! Get down!

Why it Worked

I can tell you that Bill and Jim are online daily, which is important when using Facebook and Twitter to build your brand.
Time was spent thinking about what the Comfort Brothers wanted to say and how to get their message to the Fans.

We want to wish Bill and Jim continued success as The Comfort Brothers!
