Earlier this week the Modal team met up with the Comfort Brothers to discuss their new found digital success. After all they attracted over 300 Facebook fans in a little over a week and have a good amount of daily traffic to the site. Not to mention the design community has been showing a lot of love.
After ordering coffee and a bagel or two we caught up with the Brothers. What transpired was a two hour brainstorm session that had a ripple effect late into the night.
Mobile Web
If you read the latest statistics and predictions from all of the top industry analysts you know that the Mobile Web is catching on fire. As trendspotters it’s our duty to follow up with our clients and let them know that this is a wave we should hop on. So we pitched a mobile version of the ComfortBrothers.com site. And well, that will be coming soon.
What was the gist of the pitch? The expansion of the brand. The broader the net we cast the greater the increase of reaching more potential clients. Additionally, it sends a signal that they are on top of the new technology and ready to respond with agility. We’ll be updating our blog in the “Mobile” category to show the result and explain our process.
iPhone Apps
Apps are becoming the next hot thing. Although it’s happening now among early adopters and big brands, small and emerging businesses are not taking advantage of this technology. But Modal is and we are offering this service along side the Mobile Web offering. It just makes sense for some clients. The nature of their content and their current demographics are the right mix for the App Store. So we’re pitching.
We Are Human
Which leads me to social media. Really just the social part. Although technology has essentially removed the requirement for face-to-face conversation; it does not replace the value of human connection. To see the look on the faces of Jim and Bill (the Comfort Brothers) during the pitch and later brainstorm was invaluable. You just can’t get that over a Twitter stream or Google Wave session.
So we’re excited about this new year. But really happy to know that we are still in the business of connecting people through brand development. Whether it’s a mobile web site or an iPhone App we are ready for this new decade.
