farmIt’s almost that time of year again! I’m not referring to Spring but the time that we start receiving our fresh vegetables from our local CSA. For the second year in a row, our company is participating in Community Supported Agriculture. Instead of getting produce from our local grocery store, we purchase a weekly supply of organic eggs, herbs, and vegetables from a local farm for up to 20 weeks.

It has been a great experience for our entire family! Week to week we eagerly guess what is going to be in our supply of fruits and veggies. Supplies are dependent upon what is ready to be picked and eaten. This is perfect since I don’t typically plan our meals on a weekly or for that matter, daily basis. As I determine at the last minute what we may have for dinner, it becomes quite interesting trying to figure out how to fix such things as Swiss Chard. Do I add a little garlic or salt and pepper? Oh, and what has become one of our favorites is Bok Choy. Do I make a salad or stir-fry? Hmmm….

Overall our family has become more consciously aware of eating healthier and at the same time supporting our local farmers/businesses. After all we understand, we are a small business too!
