facebookprivFor the past three weeks we’ve been writing about Facebook’s privacy issues. Our most recent post, “Facebook from Bikes to Cars” was a signal to the Facebook team to return back to its roots and forget about the boardroom. We wanted the old Facebook back before all of these privacy issues got out of hand. Well starting this week Facebook will begin rolling out a new set of privacy features. Although I’d like to think it had something to do with our three week rant we can’t take credit. Zuckerberg has finally been listening to his users.

Changes

The focus of these changes come in the form of a new screen with four options for setting the threshold of sharing your information. They are:

1. Share with everyone
2. Share with friends of friends
3. Share with only friends
4. And Facebook’s recommended setting. This setting will share some information – family information for example will be shared across the board.

In the Meantime

Don’t sit on the sidelines waiting for Facebook to help keep your data private. Take some time and make sure your privacy settings are up to snuff. Or if you are open to sharing all your information or as I like to call it airing your dirty laundry – just keep on posting away.

What do you think of the new settings – like it or love it we want to know.
